Geoffrey A. Planer has represented individuals and businesses in North Carolina since 1974. He is a past member of the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees, and is frequently asked to share his bankruptcy insights by leading continuing legal education (CLE) seminars.

A resident of Gastonia, Mr. Planer is active civically and is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia, where he has served as a deacon, elder and led Bible classes. He and his wife have two grown sons.

Matthew Sherlock joined The Planer & Sherlock P.A. in the summer of 2011. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sherlock gained substantial legal experience while serving as an intern at the Office of the District Attorney for District 20B (Union County, North Carolina).

His practice focuses primarily in the areas of bankruptcy and family law, but he has experience representing clients in many other legal matters.

Mr. Sherlock was recognized for the many hours of pro bono legal work he completed while earning his degree at the Charlotte School of Law.

Mr. Sherlock is licensed and admitted to practice before all North Carolina state courts, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
